California State University-Northridge

Chemical Engineering

1983 - 1986 My chief areas of study were Chemical Reaction Kinetics, Materials Science, Stoichiometry and Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer Operations, Process Control, Environmental Engineering, Organic and Physical Chemistry. My Senior Research Project for Chemical Reaction Kinetics class was on "Seals and Space Shuttle Safety" (prior to Jan. 1986 Challenger Shuttle disaster). This research was about safety factors in heavy-launch vehicles carrying rocket-fuels (H2 and O2) to orbital levels in order to fuel more advanced rocket propulsion systems for deeper space travel (Mars, etc.). My work was about the importance of seal-systems to separate H2 from O2, to prevent runaway (i.e. explosive) reactions. Speed-reading classes -- learned how to read 20,000 words per minute with 90% comprehension scores.

Princeton University

1977 - 1981 Admitted in 1977 in top 3% of Princeton University students. Comparative Literature Minor, Philosophy Major. Junior Paper topic: "Plato's 'Sophist'". Senior Thesis on Quinean Indeterminacy (W.V.O. Quine's "Word and Object"). Graduated 1981.

William Howard Taft High School

Calculus, Math Analysis, Trigonometry, Algebra II, some Differential Equations, Physics, Chemistry

1974 - 1977 WH Taft High School was the top-rated High School in Los Angeles, at that time, and has consistently continued to perform at high levels... Notably, they have won the "National Academic Decathlon" competitions at least 3 times. I graduated 1st in my class of 1110.
