ToACTION,Towards Open Access Coordination Training InnovatiON (2011|

Within the main goal of supporting an Open Access strategy in the European Research Area, the specific aim of the TO.ACTION project is to spread - among all the relevant stakeholders and agents in the knowledge circulation process - a culture of Open Access to scientific results generated by publicly funded research. The project relies on a circular mechanism that allows a continuous and dynamic updating of the training actions and contents, a mechanism able to persist even after the project completion.

Network Society Research

A recent mathematical invention, the Blockchain, made it possible to implement provably reliable networks of collaboration among parties that did not need to enter into direct or mediated trust relationships. The first implementation of this is Bitcoin, which is becoming evermore popular as a payment mechanism without the need of a centralized authority. The usefulness of the Blockchain however goes beyond this, and the DApp model leverages its features, extending them and leveraging them in innovative directions. Network Society Research (NSR) is a non profit that organizes the activities around the Network Society Project.

CircOS, OScience Journalism

We determined a complex pattern in an Open Source platform with Open Access and self-archive criteria, and we called it "CircOS" Open Science Journalism. It is based on a multilayer logic: (a) the first is for user identification (_ID), in six subjectivities: 1-Students, 2-Pro- users, 3-Campus, 4-Companies, 5-Journalists+Peers, 6-Directors; (b) the second is for contents processing. The evaluation algorithm prevents the dominant typical criteria of "popularity ranking, that we actually considered misleading, introducing a better calculus for contents/authors' scientific ranking and impact.

GDC Plus (GDC+)

A system processing in real-time large amounts of data (Big Data), performing calculations in Urgent Computation, accessible via browser and smart-phones applications, connecting users to fluid geographic maps. In particular, GDC+ allows users to focus into localized territories, acquiring deep statistical information on their weighted characteristics and peculiarities about industrial presence, commercial competitors, economic development, demography, and related to important phenomena. The aim is to obtain to investors, industrials, governments and organizations a quantified measure of local qualities, and the concrete hope of success of a next action, as such as investments for example industrial. The system is based on a dual network of "h-NNS" [Hybrid Network of networks] type, including a dense and capillary network of local experts, called "hounds". Calculation carried out by GDC+ is defined as hybrid combining formal computation and anthropic informal estimates. The class of used algorithms is "genetic" as well as GDC+s statistical constructs, the output judgments, and relationships in its networks.

TO.ACTION enables easier access to the research literature and may speed up the progress of science itself. The project raises awareness of OA among a range of other stakeholder groups who are essentially consumers (rather than producers) of OA information. These groups would benefit from a better understanding of the potential that OA represents for their respective goals and the skills needed to access and exploit OA outputs.

X23 is part of the Consortium, together with SellaLab (I), Swarm (US), NSOC Research (UK) and NSOC Ventures (US), CELLABZ (F), designing, submitting under the H2020 - FTI Scheme (Fast Track to Innovation).
